If you have been a victim of fraud and entered your card details on a fake website or sent a copy of your card, immediately contact the issuing bank to prevent potential misuse, advises DPD.

Online fraud attempts are becoming increasingly sophisticated. As online shoppers, we should exercise caution during the purchase process and pay attention to key trust elements emphasized by webshops and their logistics partners.

One way to build trust in online sales is by understanding the tactics used by scammers. In this article, we outline the efforts of DPD Croatia to prevent fraud, based on responses to several of our questions.

DPD emphasizes that in the last two to three years, there have been continuous online fraud attempts where scammers impersonate DPD or use the DPD brand. “They often contact users via advertising platforms like Njuškalo, Facebook Marketplace, posing as interested buyers wanting to pay or as sellers. They send fake links leading to websites that appear to be official delivery service pages. The goal is to steal credit card information—card number, name, expiry date, and CVV. Sometimes they even request additional information like card limits, which is a clear sign of fraud,” DPD warns.

DPD Croatia explicitly states:

We never ask for card numbers, card copies, or other sensitive information via email, SMS, WhatsApp, or any other digital channel.

• Card number, CVV, and expiration date are only required when paying through secure online systems.

• The only legitimate information a buyer may request from a seller during payment is the IBAN and account holder name.

• DPD will never request information about card limits.

DPD advises the public to be extra cautious and never enter card details on unverified links. If in doubt, contact DPD Croatia directly through official channels: email [email protected] or phone +385 (0)1 3430 600.

“If you have been a victim of fraud and entered your card details on a fake website or sent a card copy, immediately contact your bank to prevent potential misuse. Our consumer protection department forwards every reported fraud to the competent authorities along with all collected evidence,” DPD states.
